LEGAL
A nagging curiosity about law and social justice, as well as their application to everyday life, eventually led me to pursue a legal career. My journey began in my homeland with stops in Canada, England, the United States and now back to Toronto. Along the way, I learned tenacity, to always strive for excellence and the importance of hard work and continuous learning.
These qualities serve me daily in my legal practice, where my areas of expertise encompass all aspects of corporate law and real estate law.
I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. Women were actively involved, and I was immersed in business culture from a young age. This inspired me to pursue a career as a lawyer with a focus on business law.
My vision was to attain a top-quality education. With that goal in mind, and through hard work and dedication, I was one of the top-ranked students graduating with an LL.B. in Islamic law. Wanting to expand my legal knowledge in the realm of business and law, I went on to complete an LL.B. in Canadian Common Law and LL.M. at Osgoode Hall Law School. I also hold Mediation & Negotiation Certificates from the University of Kent as well as a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from Harvard Law School.
My experience in alternative dispute resolution allows me to offer clients an extra set of skills to help them reach a satisfactory outcome quickly and efficiently. It has also honed my ability to listen, ask questions, and work collaboratively, strategically, and with sound judgement in all cases.
As my experience in business law grew, I made the decision to expand my skill-set once more to better serve my clients. I am currently pursuing my designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
I enjoy working with corporations as well as individuals. I believe that a long-lasting lawyer/client relationship is built on open communication. I am committed to responding to any and all questions in a timely manner and to making the legal process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
I am an executive member of the Canadian Bar Association‘s real property section and active member of the Toronto region board of trade and women in capital markets.
